Eufy Video Doorbell E340 with wireless chime

Everyday help for your eufy E340 doorbell and indoor chime: answering the door from your phone, changing the chime, notifications, recordings, charging and fixing common problems.

Last updated 31 October 2026. App screens can change slightly after updates.

Before you start

You'll need:

  • Your phone with the eufy Security app (free from the App Store or Google Play)
  • The email address and password for your eufy account — we set this up with you at installation
  • Your home Wi-Fi working normally

Tip: if you can't remember which email the account uses, call us and we'll help you find it. Please don't create a second account — the doorbell can only belong to one.

Getting to know your doorbell

  • Doorbell button — the large ring at the bottom. It lights up when pressed.
  • Two cameras — the top camera shows the visitor; the lower camera looks down at the doorstep so you can see parcels.
  • Motion sensor, microphone and speaker — so it can spot people and you can talk to them.
  • Battery — a removable, rechargeable battery pack inside the doorbell (if your doorbell is wired to an old doorbell supply, it keeps itself charged).
  • SYNC button (on the back, under the cover) — only needed when setting up or resetting. You won't normally touch it.

1. Signing in to the app

  1. Open eufy Security on your phone.
  2. Tap Log in and enter your eufy email and password.
  3. If asked for a verification code, check that email inbox (and the junk folder).
  4. When asked, allow notifications and allow the microphone — without these you won't hear the doorbell ring on your phone or be able to talk to visitors.

Your doorbell appears on the home screen as a picture tile.

2. Answering the door from your phone

When someone presses the doorbell, your phone shows a notification.

  1. Tap the notification to open the live picture.
  2. Tap the microphone button to speak. Hold your phone a little away from you — there is a short delay, so pause after speaking.
  3. Tap Quick Reply to play a pre-recorded message (for example, "Please leave the parcel by the door").
  4. Tap the red button or close the screen to hang up.

You can also look at the doorstep at any time: open the app and tap the doorbell picture to see the live view.

Note: live view uses battery. Only leave it open as long as you need.

3. The indoor chime

The wireless chime plugs into a normal wall socket and rings inside the house whenever the doorbell is pressed — even if your phone isn't nearby.

Change the tune or volume

  1. In the app, open the doorbell, then tap Settings (the cog icon).
  2. Tap Indoor Chime (on some versions of the app this is under Chime or the chime appears as its own device on the home screen).
  3. Choose a new ringtone and adjust the volume. Press the doorbell to test.

Move the chime to another room

Just unplug it and plug it into another socket. It stays paired. Keep it within reasonable range of the doorbell — thick walls and large metal objects reduce range.

The chime has stopped ringing

  1. Check it's plugged in and the socket is switched on.
  2. Unplug it for 10 seconds, then plug it back in.
  3. Check the volume in the app hasn't been turned right down or to silent.
  4. Move it to a socket closer to the front door to test.
  5. If it still won't ring, it may need pairing again: in the doorbell's Settings → Indoor Chime, choose Add Device and follow the steps on screen. If that's confusing, give us a call — it takes a couple of minutes.

4. Sharing the doorbell with family

Each person should have their own eufy account rather than sharing your password.

  1. Ask them to install the eufy Security app and create a free account.
  2. On your phone, open the app and go to Settings → Family Members (shown as Family & Guests in some versions).
  3. Tap Invite and enter their email address.
  4. They accept the invitation in their app, then they'll see the doorbell too.

5. Getting the right number of alerts

Too many alerts (cars, passers-by) or too few? Open the doorbell, tap Settings, then:

  • Notifications — choose what you're told about: doorbell rings, people, packages or all motion. For most homes, doorbell rings and people is a good balance.
  • Motion detection → Sensitivity — lower it if passing cars or trees set it off.
  • Activity Zone — draw a box around the area you care about (your path and doorstep) so the road is ignored.

If you're getting no notifications at all:

  1. Check your phone's settings allow notifications for eufy Security.
  2. Check Do Not Disturb / Focus mode isn't on.
  3. In the app, check the mode at the top of the home screen isn't set to Disarmed or a mode that turns notifications off — Home or Away is usual.
  4. On Android, turn off battery saving for the eufy app so it can run in the background.

6. Watching recordings

  1. Open the app and tap Events (bottom of the screen).
  2. Tap any event to play it. You can switch between the main camera and the doorstep camera.
  3. To save a clip to your phone, open it and tap the download icon.

Recordings are stored locally on your eufy equipment by default. If you have a eufy HomeBase, clips are kept there.

7. Charging the battery

The app shows the battery level on the doorbell tile. When it's low:

  1. Use the small release tool supplied to remove the doorbell from its bracket.
  2. Slide out the battery pack.
  3. Charge it with the USB-C cable and a standard USB phone plug until fully charged (usually a few hours).
  4. Put it back in and clip the doorbell back on. The doorbell beeps when it's back online.

To make the battery last longer: reduce motion sensitivity, use an activity zone, choose a shorter recording length and avoid leaving live view open.

If your doorbell is connected to an existing doorbell supply, you shouldn't need to charge it.

8. Common problems

The app says the doorbell is offline

  1. Check your Wi-Fi is working (try another device).
  2. Check the battery level — a flat battery shows as offline.
  3. Restart your broadband router: switch off for 30 seconds, then on, and wait 5 minutes.
  4. If you've changed your Wi-Fi name or password, or changed broadband provider, the doorbell needs reconnecting — call us and we'll sort it.

The picture is slow or freezes

This usually means the Wi-Fi signal at the front door is weak. Try moving your router or Wi-Fi point closer, or ask us about improving coverage.

I can't hear the visitor, or they can't hear me

Check the app is allowed to use your phone's microphone (phone Settings → eufy Security → Microphone) and that your phone isn't on silent or connected to a Bluetooth headset.

Should I reset it?

Please don't reset the doorbell unless we ask you to — a reset removes it from your account and it then needs setting up again. Call us first.

Keeping things private and secure

  • Use a strong password on your eufy account and turn on two-step verification in the app's account settings.
  • Point activity zones at your property, not at neighbours' gardens or the pavement.
  • Remove family members from sharing if they no longer need access.
  • Accept app and doorbell updates when offered — they fix problems and improve security.
